The deadline for submissions for the Hopkins County Chamber of Commerce’s Community Awards has been extended to Friday, Jan. 10.

We like to celebrate the great things about Hopkins County, and the best time to do it is at the Hopkins County Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Banquet and Community Awards.

Nominations are being accepted for Citizen of the Year, Woman of the Year, Small and Large Businesses of the Year and other superlative recognitions. The awards will be announced at the Chamber’s membership banquet on Thursday, Feb. 13, at the Hopkins County Civic Center.

When nominating a person or business, please write in the nomination letter the reasons you are presenting them for the award.

Citizen of the Year, Woman of the Year, Caregiver of the Year, Community Pride Award, Agriculturist of the Year, Growth and Renewal, Outstanding Professional Educator (Administrator, Counselor, Diagnostician, or Teacher, Outstanding ParaProfessional Educator (Secretary or Aide), )utstanding Auxiliary Educator (Maintenance, Custodial, Transportation, Nurse or Cafeteria), Large Business of the Year, and Small Business of the Year (Businesses of the Year nominations should be for those businesses which exhibit outstanding community involvement—civic, church, educational, benevolent, humanitarian or other).

Please get your nominations in by 5 p.m. on Jan. 10.

Senior Citizen Center

Join the crew at Sulphur Springs Senior Citizen Center as they rock into the new year with a performance by Dale Cummings, aka “The C”, at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 3. They will serve deli sandwiches and chips. Stick around to see if you win one of their prizes! The event is sponsored by Grocery Supply Co.

Christus Trinity Clinic

CHRISTUS Trinity Clinic will host a special celebration at its new ENT clinic. Come take a tour, enjoy refreshments and meet their newest clinician, Jay Yates, M.D., at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 16, at 101 Medical Plaza.

Ribbon Cuttings

KJ’s Boutique will host a ribbon cutting at their location, 214 Main Street, at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 3.  That day, they will have a special of 25% off one regular priced item and light refreshments will be served. We hope you can make it.

SS Nails and Lashes will have a ribbon cutting for the opening of their shop located at 230 Main Street. The ribbon cutting will be at noon on Friday, Jan. 3, and they will have refreshments and a signature cocktail. Join us for this event.

Credit Union of Texas will host a ribbon cutting at noon on Friday, Jan. 17, at their location on the downtown square, at the corner of Main and Gilmer streets.
